Pigeons.... What Can I Use To Deter Them From Sitting On Windowsills?
12 Answers
I recently moved to a first floor maisonette. I find it really annoying as I continually get pigeons resting on my window ledges directly outside my bedroom window. They are noisy little buggers (excuse my language) first thing in the morning and last thing at night when they are moving around, brushing their bodies against my windows, banging on my window or fighting each other to get the best seat, so to speak. Despite the fact the bird poo is not a good look for my home! Is there anything I can legally use to put on my window ledges to deter them from being there? Thanks.

spikes and the repellant dont work, i know someone who used them and it didn't make a difference, he ended up making his own with six inch nails through a piece of wood and this didn't work either and the repellant stripped the paint it was put on, in the end he stuck a picture of a cat onto the inside of his window and the pigeons were never seen again!
Cat's picture is nearly what I'd recommend... here, in the U.S., one can buy a 10 to 12 inch high replica of an owl. placed anywhere near where the birds roost will disperse them.
One we have is plastic and has some loose plastic type feathers that "flicker" in the wind making it look even more lifelike. It doesn't have to be on the sill but anywhere near seems to work...
