My dog is down in the dumps. I had her spayed on Tuesday. Monday night she had to go without food, and Tuesday morning I had to take her water away from her. She is hating the lampshade collar that she has to wear, but attempts to lick or scratch without it on, so I have no choice. She went for me yesterday, something she has never done. I am trying not to mollycoddle her, but she is up on the sofa with me (normally not allowed) and has a new treat. Walks are usually off lead, but have been advised to keep her on for a week or so. She's giving me the evil eye, I'm not sure if she will try to bite me again.
Also, I got a pet snake on Monday, the day before her op. She hasn't taken much notice of it, but I think she may be feeling punished somehow. Are there any alternative to the lampshade collar? And apart from treats, what can I do to make her happier? I feel so bad!

I had to have a bitch spayed after she had a pyometra, but she didnt attempt to lick the wound, and you wouldnt have known she had anything done. Guess they are all different and she is feeling sore.

The buster collar is brilliant. So much nicer then the lampshade ones.
No doubt she is feeling pretty uncomfortable after such a major op. I would suggest not letting her up on to the sofa with you. Just in case she jumps down on her own accord. Not good after this sort of op.
If she continues being out of character then I would be inclined to just pop her to the vets for a check up. Is she eating ok?

I like the look of that, Jules. I think I've got a rubber ring somewhere, save myself a few quid.....! Going to pop to pets at home in a bit to see if they sell the pro collar.
She's eating ok, but I'm going to the vets with her tomorrow, icemaiden to get her checked over. She seems less angry than she did first thing this morning, just feeling particularly sorry for herself and fighting with her lampshade!
