No not THAT baby - far more important.

I've been out in the garden tonight and Mummy Hedgehog has been there with her two babies. The youngsters are doing their own thing (they don't follow Mummy about, but are still here), but they are fit and healthy.

On blackbird watch, I fear that one has met its maker, however, I know that 3 out of the 4 babies are still around. Mummy Blackbird was here to greet me when I got home (and very demanding she was too).

I doubt my babies will make the front pages, but in this house they do.

They would be on my front page Barmaid. I'm fed up of hearing about the royal baby already.

so they don't make the front pages - no matter

they are important to you, Barmaid, and that that's good enough for me
Loads of babies being brought in at the moment, young bluetit is about the cutest, goldfinch the most numerous (and quarrelsome).
Have you named your babies yet, Barmaid??
Question Author
Hedgies are Frankie and Benny.

Not named the baby birds, but parents are known as Cashew and Pecan.
Hope the royals don't copy!
Barnaby, Barminta, Bargnetha, Barbara, Barnabas, Barakah, Barbette, Bartha?

lol ferlew, trouble is, the baby blackbirds will be gone in a day or so. I don't want to get too attached. I'm sad enough at the prospect of Cashew (Mummy) leaving. She was a friendly bird and I looked out for her. I shall miss her.
The mum and dad here have been around a few years now. Not quite sure, but I believe they may be raising yet another brood.
Pressure is increased for currants on the sill. They are not eating them, they fell their beak and fly away.
Question Author
Could be Ferlew. They will potentially have a brood up to the end of August. Just make sure you soak any dried fruit. Cashew LOVES soaked sultanas. She has a few herself and then takes the rest off for her babies.
It's supposed to be lucky to have hedgies in your garden, they're my favourite animal.
Yes, we have been doing so for 11 years here, blackies and robins in our last place preferred grated cheese.
Err, Sherra, may I be so bold as to ask what your avatar IS?
It looks, errr, like summat odd.
Question Author
They are terribly cute Sherrard. The chickens hate them (they run away and make a very odd noise) and the cats are perplexed. But they are just so sweet. Check out the pics on my other thread for mahousive cuteness!!!!
