Hate them but couldn't harm them. Get them on to the veg ladle with the holes in and before they have sorted their legs out flick them out of the window.
I've scared to death of them but I wouldn't dream of killing one on purpose. They can fall a long distance without injury so throwing one out the window probably won't harm the little poor defenseless creature but either way it will come back in. They always come back, it's a fact.
One thing that puzzles me is why did you kill it. If you're arachnophobic then you surely wouldn't of been able to get near it let alone 'blindfold it' (your words not mine). Someone truly scared would of probably tried to drown it.
Canary, he was hard to miss en route to the wc, waving all his legs about.
Diz, I did not kill it, just cocooned it in Andrex finest quilted, and flushed.
Most I let be, dunno what it was about this one.
Funnily enough, flushing it down the loo doesn't usually kill them. They can stand a good dousing in liquid and come up smelling.... err well.... in this case, maybe not. They could live in the sewers indefinitely and eventually come out in the works where they might find some friends. You've probably aided them in spreading their species. Well done. Hope you feel better now.
Mr C got me a marvellous thingy... looks a kids toy gun... with a long neck... trigger one end... bristles the other... when you fire the trigger the bristle's open ..and you can pick the spider up... at arms length.. and shove 'em outside..!! doesn't hurt the spider..I HATE spiders too...euchh... but I couldn't kill one!..Mrs C x
I'm sure they mainly survive when flushed or rinsed away and they certainly come straight back in if thrown outside. Sorry it's either death in my house or partner has to take them over the road.
I have one of those spider catchers too Crisper but I keep getting mega spiders that are way too big for the catcher...vacuum cleaner at the ready!
I know fear of spiders is irrational but that doesn't help me :(
