Winter Gnats

HELP! I'm being eaten alive at home by gnats! Any advice on how to get rid of the blighters?

The good news is that I have identified early on what has been biting me. I have spotted about 5 of them over the past few days and killed them. I'm not sure how many more I have to contend with. Is there anything that would discourage them from being in my house?

Does citronella work on gnats do you think? Otherwise there's an avon skin moisturiser that deters things from biting but cannot recall what it's called. Google it and see if that helps to find it. If I find it I will post the link.

Sorry don't have the link but it's Avon skin so soft spray apparently, just google it to find out, best I can do.

Are they the insects that swarm in columns in my garden ? How do they survive the cold ?
