I love my dog dearly, but I would never dream of buying him xmas presents, birthday presents, nor would I ever send a card with his name on it to anyone. he's a dog :)
Lol reading this, my friend turned up today bearing a gift from her dog to mine, tongue in cheek I must add, but I'm planning on wrapping a bonio in return.
my dog not only gets birthday and Christmas presents they are wrapped up and he knows how to unwrap them himself - he also sends cards and gives people presents from him - people also buy him Christmas presents and send Christmas cards to me and him. The local chip shop know that when I buy a sausage it is for him and they cut it up for him so it is small enough for him to eat - he's a yorkie and not at all spoilt!
I can still remember years ago getting a Christmas card through the door from one of my neighbours, that had written on it:- "From our dog, To your cat" I never did find out who sent it but it always makes me chuckle when I think about it.
I don't think there's anything wrong in buying presents for your pets. They are, after all, part of the family and should be treated as such.
Our cats have sent me a Card - it's hung up with the rest of the "family" cards haven't sent them one this year.......doubt they'll notice (they are having Dreamies put under the tree for them!
My cats are cats but they are also fascinating animals. They got a stocking each from my brother which contains Kitty dope (catnip). I bought them each a heat mat for their beds.
But I fully accept that not everybody sees their animal friends as being the same as other family members. My brother has been known to say something along the line of "they are just fekkin cats"
I love dogs - what type of hound do you have anne? I have had two hounds in my life and they were handsome boys. Bullmastiff/GSD from a puppy and Labrador/GSD from the age of 5.
