My budgie has sadly died :-(

I would normally put him in a cardboard box and bury him in the garden, with his little mate who passed away last year, but I don't seem to have one.

Would it be 'ok' to use a plastic container with a lid, which is what he's in now.

Was it a Norwegian Blue? :-)
Plastic can take hundreds of years to biodegrade. If you don't have a cardboard box, wrap him in some paper kitchen towel.
"I raided the kitchen cupboards and managed to find a trifle box, ironically, 'Birds' trifle :-/ "

lol, im sorry, I know im going to hell for this, but that didn't half make me chuckle!

Apologies BabySham x

Carrust, he was a Norwegian Blue, yes.
I have no idea how old he was, as we re-homed them from a lady who didn't have much information on them.
Ronnie passed away last year, and now little Reggie has gone the same way.
The house is very quiet without him tweeting away to the radio :-(

I'm glad the 'Birds Trifle' thing made a few of you chuckle.
It made me smile too, but unfortunately my kids didn't get the joke and asked me why I was laughing as I put him into his coffin :-/
We said a little prayer as we put him into the ground, and I had a small brandy last night, to toast Reggie's little life.

May you rest in peace Reg.
I am so sorry to hear about your budgie I loved my darling little boy and still sad at his loss some years later. However, may I please ask you not to get another bird, if you have to ask " can budgies even get sick?" It's no wonder he died as he might have been ill and you didn't even know. If that was the case then he may have been able to have been treated, so please don't get another bird unless you know how to truly look after them. RIP Reggie

I think you have to put concrete on top of the budgie, so it doesn't get dug up by scavengers.

Or maybe a big rock.
