Hello all,
Recently at night (1-2 in the morning) we are being plagued by foxes, and the horrible screeching noise they make. This in turn sets off our dog in a barking mode and he takes a while to settle back down. Needless to say the it is just a little annoying.
Are there any ways of detering foxes from coming around our area (they cannot actually get into my garden, but sound very close) alternatly can anyone recomend a good way to get the dog to ignore the foxes / or atleast calm down quicker.

The breeding season for the fox is between December and February in the UK. It's generally round about January that the vixen makes her late night blood curdling screams - so what's causing the noise now? The only thing I can think of is perhaps a territory dispute. As their natural habitat is disappearing more and more foxes are coming into urban areas and it's getting a bit overcrowded. Cetti (Dorset. UK)
