I'm having a bit of trouble with my 8 month-old pup...(some of you may have seen a past post about this)...well, it is still a problem and I am afraid it will get worse.
I just want to know from you all when your dog was completely potty trained and stopped having accidents inside?? (age)
And at what age should they have complete control over their bodily habits and no longer have accidents?
Can accidents sometimes occur up to 1 year-old? or is this very unusual??
Feedback appreciated, thanks!

Our dalmatian puppy is now 5 months old and we haven't had an accident for about 2 months now. We used (and still do use) a crate/cage for his bed and so he was always placed in here when he slept during the day (with the door open) and as soon as he came out we took him straight outside and let him 'go'. Similary, after every meal, we took him straight outside and wouldn't let him back in until he had gone. He was never left alone for the first few weeks until he knew how to ask to go outside (he now walks to the back door and whines).
This technique really worked and I think we only had about 4 or 5 accidents in total. Like I say he is now 5 months old and can keep a wee in all night (it's the number twos that he still sometimes gets up for!)
Good luck with your puppy. Have you talked about this to a vet? There may be a problem that is causing this - your little friend might have some muscle/bladder control problems?
Thanks Mookie...I was curious to know about other dogs and at what age they were able to control themselves without any accidents. Your dalmation sounds like a treat!
My Mazy has certainly been a quick learner. She can sit, stay, come, and understand other commands as well. (I even went through proffesional dog-training classes with her)....Which is why I too believe that this may be a more unusual problem than I realized.
I will be consulting one of the veteranarians in my close family to see what they think.
I appreciate all of your replies!
hi HAnn, not much use to you as I dont have a problem with parker, apart from the odd scent marking mishap in my mums house, parker came to us when he was 6months old and already house trained(the only thing he came knowing) he seems to be able to hold himself for hours if he has to,I wish I could train him to wee on command, then last thing at night he wouldn't take the mick and spend ages sniffing around before he went, for some strange reason he wont wee in the back garden.
the only advice I can give is never punish her.
