I think most kids in my day used to collect frogspawn and tadpoles in the spring, stuey. Maybe catch a newt or two if you were lucky.
Dunno about Clayton lane though, stuey ( whether it's an highway or not ).
Yes, Jackdaw33; I remember that one:) Used to hate the stuff!
Yep, frogspawn with a dollop of jam in the middle was one of the school dinner puds when I was kid, Jackdaw.
Did I hear you correctly???

We've no frogs but we do have,or did the last couple years, a Great Crested Newt.I suspect the spawn was imported on a visiting bird.We often have a look round to see if we can find find him a girl friend but we've had no luck.
Sure its not toad spawn she's got?
Trolling the woods, fields, streams, and ponds we did and enjoyed, as we had no Internet to troll:)
Tony.frogspawn and jam was awful it was one of the few things nobody wanted seconds off.
Remember semolina and jam? I would go back for seconds before being banned as a greedyguts.
Yep, nobody wanted seconds of that, paddywak.
Best of luck finding your newt a girlfriend, great crested newts are a rare species these day's I believe.
Yeah, I remember that, Jackdaw.
Strange how your tastes change. As a kid in England, I hated mushy peas; now I love them:)
I know tony I was warned off by ranger once, mind you the same lass met Trish a few days later when she was off duty and gave her a few tips to try as she said any way to increase the breed.
Hey gotta love mushy peas stuey. Especially with fish and chips.

Best of luck with increasing the breed, paddywak.
rice pudding, tapioca and semolina, no thanks, hot milk, no.
Daisy, at school dinners there used to be a teacher on most tables with the kids, they ate the same food as us including frogspawn and jam !.
Here's hoping the frogspawn turns up in your pond soon gness, and that it lives up to your eggs-pectations

When I studied at Eaton, Cambridge, Oxford, and then attended Sandhurst we were served rice pudding with a skin on top. Tapioca...Well, it was left for the, shall we say, lower classes.
I knew that I knew you from somewhere, old bean.
Well yes, quite. I do rather recall an old geezer by the name of Tony who waited upon us in the tuck shop.
