Hedgehog Found On First Floor
21 Answers
My daughter heard rustling in her office which is on the first floor of her house. She investigated very nervously, and found a hedgehog in a box of dolls clothes! They live in a Victorian house with a steep staircase. How did it get there? They got some cat food for it and this was scoffed hungrily. There was no mess, no 'deposits', so she doesn't think it had been there long.
So, where did it come from. No boxes had been taken upstairs. She went with my grandson and put him in a field quite a way away from the road, and hope he settles there.
A mystery, but a nice one, it made her chuckle!

A similar thing happened with me, a few years ago.
In my case, the wee creature was a shrew.
I returned home with three bags of shopping, which was unloaded from the car and placed on the front step by the door.
After taking the bags inside, I started putting the groceries in their various cupboards etc.
It was when I got to the last bag, that I heard this scuffling and rustling. I gingerly removed the items from the bag, one by one, outside the door and found one terrified tiny shrew, which I then released back into the wild.
I guess, it only took that shrew, only a matter of a few seconds to hide inside the bag while it was left on the step.
