What Makes Them Do It? Cecil The Lion From Zimbabwe's

National Park has been deliberately shot at with a bow and arrow and hours later when that hadn't killed him he was shot and killed by an American dentist. The killing itself is bad enough but the repercussions for Cecil's offspring are dire.

Another interesting aspect of the case is that Cecil had been seen in the Hwange National Park for 13 years, was radio collared but shot on private land outside the park. There's so much more to this story.

I read that he has a conviction in Wisconsin for poaching a bear....and I see a picture of him with his bow and arrows holding a beautiful but dead leopard that he paid a lot to poach... allegedly......obviously a very sick man.

If the dentist involved was well known in hunting circles (and I'm in no way doubting you divebuddy) then he was a bit thick not to have checked out the credentials of the outfit he was hunting with. Says a lot about him that he was prepared to shoot a collared animal though.

Dive buddy there are animals out there being shot in the way all the time - Cecil's death will bring to the fore this abomination but for how long? to what end? - this is akin to 'canned hunting', - if you read one of my earlier posts I have already pointed out the fact that it's very odd Cecil was lured onto private land after being sighted in his established Hwange Park area for 13 or so years. It's not usual for an established pride leader to wander out of his territory. Whose to say he wasn't herded, maybe tranquilised, transported then realeased? As with Ivory poaching the lengths these low lifes go to are mind boggling.

He's a coward pure and simple, all hunters are. Animals don't have guns or crossbows or any other weapons, easy targets for morons like this.

Rather a sweeping generalisation there.
How about Massai tribesman who have to hunt animals to feed their family. No Iceland in the Bush or Amazon rainforests come to that. Granted they do not hunt lions to kill to eat but plenty of other wildlife is hunted in order to survive.They are not cowards.

This American cannot be described as a true hunter. I have never killed an animal in my life but I would if I was hungry enough. I just let abbatoirs do the killing so I can shop for meat in Sainsbury's

Apparently when the piece of garbage known as Walter Palmer shot Cecil with his Bow and arrow / crossbow Cecil was shot dead with a rifle 40 hours later.

Maybe that even with a white hunter with a gun as backup, the dentist wasn't quite close enough to get a killing shot which resulted in this outrage.
