That will be a grey squirrel sandy. We are plagued by them when the bird feeder is out. .22 airgun req.
Are the sizes you give, in inches, feet, centimetres or yards?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fox. There's a tray containing peanuts and mealworms under some of the feeders and its knocked out of place some mornings.
A fox. I found a chewed up scrubbing brush on my lawn yesterday.
Human? They have been known to steal the strangest things

An elephant couldn't move that cage if the measurements had been yards. ☺ It's inches.
Are you sure that wasn't a hedgehog 237SJ
Togo - probably a fox. There are loads of them around here. I`m always finding chewed up bones on the lawn. I also get chewed up Felix pouches that must have been taken from someone`s recycling bin. I found a stack of them behind the garden shed the other day.
Doh, I`ve just got the joke!
My guess is grey squirrel.
It more than likely managed to unhook it, drop it down and drag it away to somewhere quite.
Rat or squirell.
a hedgehog with a wheelbarrow - oops sorry thought this was the Jokes section
I've seen grey squirrels do that.
The Jackdaws in our garden have learnt to lift the peanut feeder off the hook and drop it on the ground so the lid bursts open and they can easily get at the nuts inside. Just wondered it they had tried something similar with you. The crow family are known for being the cleverest birds. However, they can't work out how to undo a cable tie, so thats why they can't do it anymore!
rat - magpie ?
ET ? or other alien ?
I think it would be a squirrel because I actually watched one doing the same thing before I could get outside to stop it, he ran off with it and it was fastened to a fence with wire but that didn,t stop him there were teeth marks on the piece of wire that was left behind
