we had a sad thing happen today, there was a little yellow frog that had been hanging around the water butts at the back of the shed for ages, then we found he (or she) has been run over by the lawn mower, it was the first yellow frog I had seen for years (plenty of green ones) and we wonder what it was doing in our garden as we don't have a pond.

When you think about how small these animals are in a world designed by animals of our size it is amazing that any of them survive.

They risk being stood on or run over and there is always the risk that they will become nothing more than a snack to a cat.

Are you planning a funeral?
Awww! Is it all mangled up? Why didn't it hop off? Poor little thing.
I went to get some shavings out for the horses stables the other day and saw what I thought was a lump of poop -I prodded it and it moved -it was a huge frog that was very dehydrated so I captured it and put it in our pond in the field. When I went to look a few days later it was still there sat on a stone. I've never seen a yellow frog though
i guess the frog croaked . Sorry could;nt help myself.
What a RIVETING tale.
Our frogs accassionaly come out of our pond and stroll around our smallish back garden that is paved nearly all over.
First time ever a couple of days ago, we stood and watched a frog grab a slug and woofed it down.Luckily we had our flood lights and witnessed it.
Dont think weve ever seen yellow a frog though!
I wonder if it ketmitted frogicide.

Or Kermitted maybe?
You didn't have a pond, but you had a water butt ! Just a deeper pond:-) Poor ole yellow froggy. Any nearby water source will bring in frogs it seems. We have a tiny, really old stream a full field away, but,we have a fairly regular amount of brown frogs around us.
I guess that's why frogs produce so much spawn, to ensure some may survive.
Frogs seem to have the ability to change their colour to blend in with their surroundings...but sadly it don't always work in their favour .
