Bird Identification

Hi, my neighbour has just been to see me as she had a picture of a bird on her camera taken today sitting on her back garden fence. A large bird larger than a kestrel black body, pinkish cheeks, red legs, and 2 distinctive white spots on the top of his head., she didn't want to leave her camera but is coming again tomorrow so will put a picture on. I have been through my bird books as had she. No idea. Her garden backs onto farmland, if that is any help. Thanks all

Sorry should have said hooked beak and Norfolk, she has shown photo's to two old ladies nearby who if anyone knows they will, but they had no idea.

Could be a red legged partridge.

I find that one of the best ways to identify birds, is to google it then sift your way through the countless images.
Maybe its a sparrow hawk or something similar but the images will show the bird in varying stages of its life and also males and females

I thought of red legged partridge but the black body put me off.

I thought sparrow hawk at first, they have yellow legs.

What about one of those, dark (almost blak) pheasants, often seen in recent years.

I don't think the black pheasants chip is referring to are melanistic they are a species imported from the USA for sport shooting.

Could it be a red footed falcon?
One was found shot dead in Cambridgeshire in November.
Quite rare I believe
