Regulars on AB will know of my extreme fear of these creatures, and this one made my skin crawl !

Cripes.....I would have probably bricked myself if I came across him in the Everglades, when in Florida last year.

It's in the Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, so hopefully it's safe.

We stayed in Polk County .....A place called Davenport which is about 20 mins drive to the Theme Parks, traffic permitting.
Saw and chatted to Ex footballer Paul Merson in a supermarket......And Referee Howard Webb in Appelbys.

I wouldn't be inclined to be standing that near - much less lying down, those things can really shift when they think a meal is near, and they'd run a man down in seconds from that distance, even less if he's got to get up to start running first!

As divebuddy says, hippos are the real issue, they are seriously territorial, and generally chippy, so it only takes being nearby to annoy one enough to come and take a chunk out of you - usually a pretty big chunk!!

I have to admit that Alligators and Crocodiles are not in my list of favourite animals. But that one looks impressive. Probably take a few Yorkshire Deer Hounds to fill its belly. Might be a worthy opponent of the fearsome Jack Russell Terrier.

Couldn't believe the coincidence as just arrived, picked up rental MPV and drove to shopping precinct to pick up keys to Holiday Home we were to stay at, went in supermarket to get some shopping and over in fruit and veg.....The Merson family. He was really pleasant and talked to us for a few minutes, my son's were happy as an ex Arsenal player, who they support. :-)
Howard Webb's family were sitting on a table in front of us in Appelbys near Orlando.
