Getting Another Chihuahua

we allready have a female , she is 3 yrs old , dont know what that is in dog yrs but anyway .

daughter wants another dog, a puppy, male .

will they fight is the question. what is our dog doesnt take to him ?

what way to introduce to her ?
she lives in a large cage at night , she loves to sleep inside her cage.
if we did buy a new dog could we put him inside or gradually put him in after weeks ?
will they eventually breed ?
also, there is a miniture Dachshund for sale , bit expensive at 600 quid, daughter loves him , would they make a good mix if bred later on in years to come

I can't begin to imagine what a cross between a chihuahua and a miniature dachshund would look like. A bit odd, I would have thought. Tiny head, long back, skinny legs?

pity the mummy chihuahua... a dachshund would be a wallaping big sausage to a wee mite LOl..I'd stick to two of the same breed ....

Meanwhile, have you read the comments about mixing the breeds? I don't think it's a good idea to do that.

You say you want to breed "eventually". A male pup will be mature at 12-18 months. By then your female will be what....4 and a half? That might be getting on a bit for a first litter. Please check with a vet regarding this.

anna , thanks and yes i am going to stop sharing my personal info, there was another way i could have put it .
pasta, yes we didnt dare let her breed before as she was too small , she is now 3 yr old and since garden is very big with plenty room for both to run around we will decide on buying another pup.
i also take the advice about a cross bred chihuahua & duachund and think " if " we do buy another pup then it will be a chihuahua.

Haven't read all the posts, but pasta has a point. Another option might be to breed from her with a stud dog and keep one of her puppies.
