My Dog Follows Me

Everywhere around the house, and if I close the door to go to the bathroom or in a bedroom he sits outside until I come out, is this because he's still young (9 months) or will it be to do with his personality.

Going to guess a bit of each....both of my dogs sometimes sit outside the loo or bathroom door and they always want to know where I am. if they think what I am doing is boring then they will go about their own business. I think the loo door thing is quite common as many of my friends' dogs do it too.
You are his alpha male - even if you are female. Our rescued (from Hungary) silver grey border collie has to know where my wife is at all times, at this moment she has gone into town for a few hours and the dog sits next to the front door and will stay there until she returns. I'm OK, but just another member of the pack.
I used to love playing hide and seek with my dog, Laddie...a miniature Collie/Sheltie.....told him to "sit and stay, boy" in the kitchen/diner and hide, normally upstairs, but house was pretty large, so plenty of hiding places, ...then call I was ready, heard him running like the clappers up the stairs... it didnt take him long to find me and he loved being praised when he did...his fluffy tail wagging furiously....he was a really lovely dog, great temperament....and I still miss him, out of all my family back then.
