If it just has a stump end keep it outside in the cool until you want to decorate it. When you are ready, give the tree a good shake to get rid of loose needles then cut a good 4 inches off the trunk and put it in a bucket of cold water. You need the kind of tree stand that has a water reservoir which you need to keep filled. Put the tree in a cool area of the house if you can and check the water daily...It wont't prevent needle loss but will help to minimise it.
Do you know if its (A) Pot grown.d
(B) Potted.
(C) Bare rooted.
(D) Sawn off.
(A) Is likely to last longer, especially if you can resist bringing it indoors too soon, in which case, keep it cool if possible, moist but not saturated.
I still have growing in a pot, in the garden from last year (Sorted!)

I've just checked on the Lidl site and I reckon you have one of those £6:99 potted christmas trees that they have on offer.
Follow the advice of others on here and keep it moist, to stop premature needle drop.
Maybe you could put the bag in a pot or bucked to stabilize it ?
Probably dug out of a nursery bed then potted up in my opinion.
