What Can A Dog Warden Do About A Dog Attack?

My dog was attacked by a staffie, the police aren't interested as I didn't get bit. It was completely unprovoked, my dogs were on the other side of the street, both on lead, not barking, literally sniffing a bush. His dog had no lead or collar and was on the opposite side of the street. It bee-lined towards us and attacked.

The police warden is investigating today... but what power do they actually have?

Vulcan I was suprised too. I've sent an email to my local police station saying I should be taken seriously and to be ignored previously was wrong.
staffies are not dangerous dogs per se
Question Author
Bednobs, agreed. Its the owners that make a dangerous dog, not the breed.

"Staffordshire bull terriers are not banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act, but are often confused with banned breeds like pit bulls"

We have a Staffie and a Staffie/Rottie Cross, they are the gentlest dogs going, the only aggression ever shown was a couple of Months or so back when Tash with out with them early evening and some idiot decided her wanted a Xmas Kiss from her, the X-breed soon changed his mind for him (No idiots were harmed during the encounter;o)

Where a dog warden is employed by the local council the police are not responsible for offences relating to dogs.

The police just rang me. I have an appointment to make a statement on Friday.
OH that's good you have an appointment.
Assume you got this low life's name and address, hopefully it will give him a sack up call if he gets a visit.
Question Author
I have his name and number, not his address unfortunately.

I have my doubts that the name and number you have will be correct,
Let's hope they are.
