If I hide it in his food, he must smell it and wont touch the food, crushing it to powder or cutting it in half made no difference. Trying to put it into his mouth resulted in a bit finger for me, and a traumatised cat who left home for 24 hours! (Oh, and he spat the tablet out onto the floor!).

I always just opened my cats mouth and popped it in, not the easiest thing to do though
Can you wrap it up in something that the cat likes? Ham?
You could try wrapping your cat in a towel before you attempt to give him his tablet, might help to save you getting clawed etc
Tablet on work top, small blob of butter/marg next to it.
wrap cat in towel ( all in swift moves - put towel over cats back, head sticking out, quickly wrap towel under and around cat quite tightly ) basically swaddle him like a baby. Cat in arms - like a baby, use index finger, scoop up butter, press it on tablet to pick it up. Other hand, or someone else, get hold of cat in corners of mouth and open mouth, buttery tablet on back of tongue , hold mouth shut , massage throat, til cat swallows. Works every time for me......good luck. Dogs are far easier. Lol
You can get liquid stuff to put on his neck - it's much simpler.

I have to give my boy daily tablets, I have to crush the tablets, hide them in his Dreamies (after making a hole in the Dreamie) and then seal up the hole and hope he eats them.

He is hard work.
We gave up when even the vet couldn't do it. The vet had his wrist lacerated.

He advised us to use Droncit, applied to the back of the neck.

Sparkles, my daughter has a cat that won't take pills and it sums it up for her!
Set the cat down on mat ,leave tablet on sideboard .Settle on hard back chair leaning forward with elbows resting on knees ..Speak clearly ..”Now cat we have got ourselves a problem here you do not want tablet , I paid good money for them right . So how do I put this ? You are the one with the worms okay ,I have tried to help but you are having none of it right . The tablet is there if you choose not to avail of its healing properties fine by me ,but don’t come moaning to me if the worms start annoying you .Works every time . oh aye the cat knows that out there there is things which it can get freely from nature to cure them but it’s just looking for you to feel sorry for it .
Get Panacur liquid wormer and it comes with a syringe. Just measure out dose and squirt into side of mouth - some of it will go in.

Thanks for all the answers friends. The trouble with the spot on wormers is that they only treat tapeworms, not roundworms as well, (or it might be the other way around, cant remember which).
And my moggy never scratches, but trying to prise his mouth open I always get one of his needle like teeth embedded in my finger, hes not really even trying to bite me, but his mouth is small, and I have big fingers!
Sounds like you have a really loving and adorable cat IS. Hope things go better for you next time. Fingers crossed ;)
have you tried one of these? Once you have the cat wrapped in a towel and its mouth open, this prevents or lessens the potential for injury. We used to have a demon cat, for which this usually worked, but not always...

take a cube of chicken make a tiny hole
I normally put down some tuna in a small ramekin dish, put the tablet in the middle and cover it up and put the tuna down at dinner time. Because the dish is so small, he doesnt have the space to move the food round so he tends to eat the tablet without noticing it.
It sounds and looks horrid, but the best way is to prod the mouth open with a finger, keep it open, throw the pill in then keep the mouth shut. The cat will swallow the pill. Make sure cat has access to water.
/the cat will swallow the pill/
Lol not if it doesn't want too!!
Starve the little *** for a day, then have three small lumps of cheese, one with the tablet in, give the first two lumps without tablet to gain trust, then hit him/her with the nasty :)
