With the evergrowing fight against animals used in circuses would you like to see a ban on selling goldfish in bags at fairgrounds?

I really wasn't aware it was still a popular prize, would be happy to see it stopped.

Thats what I thought Mamy but I haven't been to a fairground in a very long time so I wouldn't know.

I think it should be stopped.
I am gobsmacked that this is still legal.
Yep...it should be stopped. Goldfish are extremely cheap to buy but at least if you decide to get one you'll buy everything you need for it.

Just makes you wonder how long they're kept in those bags if they're not won and how many die stuck in the bags.

Makes my stomach turn.
I haven’t seen one for years, and I work loosely connected to fairs. Should be banned if it’s still going on somewhere. Poor things.
Yes. Most of them have diseases anyway
I thought it had been banned Years ago ! I remember it being common!
Eddie some, but not all, councils have indeed banned it.
I also thought this was no longer legal and yes, it should be banned. Good on this girl.
Yes, it should be banned.
Yes
Definately be banned, but having said that four of five years ago my nieces boys won one at the Goose fair and then decided it was "no good" as it had only one eye, they were going to flush it until we rescued him and put him into the garden pond. Nelson is now about 6in long and is king of the pond.
As far as I know fish has only ever had one i.

We won a fish at a fair when I was around 5 and bought a small tank for it. Being so young I wouldn't have known how to care for it so my dad looked after it.

Winning them is one thing but keeping and caring for fish is another so they often turn into unwanted pets :(
Any vegetarians here? Any omnivores? Any thoughts about the treatment of other species than goldfish?
What other animals are offered as prizes at fairgrounds?
Mamy, I just feel that there is a lot of sentimentaility about animals that doesn't lie well with the factory farming industry and the meat-eating habits of many people. Horses and dogs and cats and goldfish musn't be eaten, but cows and pigs and sheep and other fish can be. If one cares about the welfare of goldfish, why not care about large creatures like cows and sheep etc?
I simply replied to the question posed - had the question been different then so might my reply have been.
