Joy! First swifts of the year seen screaming in the sun over my house at 6pm today. What a welcome sign of hope in these horrible times.

Are you sure they were swifts, not swallows or martins?

Ah yes, Zacs, thought they couldn't be swifts - a month ago is too early for them. They're zooming about up there as I type, gladdening my heart.
I wonder if ladybirder has seen any yet...

I was in the garden, just thinking about them and low and behold, I looked up to the sky and saw several martins up in the wild blue yonder picking off the flies.
