Hi everyone, When reporting an incident to the rspca, is it completely confidential with no way at all the person can find out it was you? Its just that I had to report somthing recently, when doing so they took my name, address, phone number and everything. I said I HAD to remain anonymous which they said i would but I dont feel 100% about it, I know they are professional etc but can someone just assure me that they arent going to go out and mention who it was that reported it.

Just don't give out your details. Same problem with the police non of them can be trusted they all leak. They won't disclose the information deliberately but through incompetence or legal process they just might. Just tell them the salient information and hang up. Better still write annonomously. A bit late here I know.
They will not release your details. I would be more worried about whether they actually do anything about it. Provided an animal is fed they won't take action no matter how bad they seem to be.
Sometimes, they DO release your details. This happened to a friend of mine. The person she reported found out from the RSPCA and conducted a vendetta campaign against her. She ended up having to move house as her children were terrified and she had a brick put through her car windscreen.

your right lankeela, they have called me now and said they will not be going out as the dog is left with water, even though i told him it has been left for almost 2 days in a conservatory on its own before. I found out the owners went abroad!!!!! This was not just a one off either. how much do animals have to go through to get help???

rspca are hopeless i have to deal with them on a day to day basis and there really crap

Twinkle 2 For future reference you do not HAVE to leave your details. But just as they did above - they were able to call you back to at least let you know what the outcome is. You have to be persistent though if you don't want to leave your details. However if you know they were released you could then sue them under the data protection act.

Please don't be put off by reporting such cases. I work at an RSPCA centre at the weekends. Unfortunately, like crime, there are so many truly awful cases out there - that the milder ones have to get overlooked. It shouldn't be like that - but that is a reflection of the kind of society we live in. You can log a call again if concerned or get another neighbour to do it - as like the Police I believe they act on quantity of calls also. Thanks for doing what you did though Twinkle. Vics x

yep its 100% secret i work for the rspca so dont worry they never know ok
