Careful bednobs you'll get zapped :-)
Dressage has had some bad incidents where riders have been penalised and banned for drawing blood with their spurs or causing damage to the horses mouth with the weymouth (bit). but this is probably not the thread to discuss that :-)
TTT // got no idea how they even begin to get a horse doing that but stunning!//

A long process starting when the horse is around 3-4 years old and most horses at the level in the clip will be over 12 years old. I am genuinely suprised people have not seen dressage -its an olympic sport not tricks horses do!
I rather doubt Bednobs would be penalised for a valid opinion, many people don't like sports or indeed any disciplines that involve animals,it's a fair point to make.
Unfortunately, you can get animal abusers in any field... but that is them and not most people.
I love horse jumping, dressage not so much. I also feel it looks ( to me) a bit unnatural for the horse .
It is... it's why it is more difficult. A lot of training and patience and practice needed.
google rollkur.
I think that is widely known, woof... and not desirable in any field.
It’s beautiful to watch, but I also find it uncomfortable viewing.
I do with horse racing too.

The poor horse was put down ten years ago after breaking her leg in the field.

Sorry, ummmm. I know you only meant to post something beautiful.
Well done bednobs, exactly what I was thinking. I assumed I was the only one though. Do not like this one little bit. Cruel in my opinion!
I wish I hadn't looked up rollkur, even more barbaric now!
Bless you, lol.
Shouldn't fret too much......the horse is likely long dead, which should calm the Disney "believers". This was Aachen 2006 at the World Equestrian Games. The horse would have been 9 or 10 years old at least even then. Somewhere in an elysian field with Shergar and Elvis is the groom I should imagine.
9, they say, so 23 now.
It died in January 2010 after an accident I know very little about horses but I know that you can't force a cat to perform if it doesn't want to.

Horses are definitely more submissive than cats (who isn't...?) But to get to professional standards, does need willingness and enjoyment from the horse. They can be stubborn.
