I was giving these large tablets to swallow by the Consultant at my latest toe saga.  No way I could swallow.  Difficult to crush - so what next for pain relief

think I have one of those

if you haven't they're probably cheap enough at the chemist's.

JJ,

I have to take a dozen tablets in the morning.  If you put them in your mouth and take a huge mouthful of water you should be able to get them down.

Don't think about it, just do it.  Its your brain that's the problem.

This is what the NHS says..

Fill a plastic water or soda bottle with water. Put the tablet on your tongue and close your lips tightly around the bottle opening. Take a drink, keeping contact between the bottle and your lips by pursing your lips and using a sucking motion to swallow the water and pill.

Maybe an alternative method of delivery, ask the pharmacist,  some drugs can be made up in suppository form ( far more common in France apparently)

The NHS advice given above (02.24) seems like instructions  to choke yourself to death!

My method is foolproof for people who have trouble swallowing pills.

Put the pill in your mouth.

Take a mouthful of water.

Bend fowward at the waist.

Straighten up, put your head back, and swallow, all in one smooth motion.

The water, and the pill will both go down together.
