I have a friend in Canada who has just spent $1000 in having her beloved cat treated for crystals in the urine. She has just noticed the crystals have reappeared and just cannot afford another $1000 dollars - is there anyone out there who can advise please?

A really good one is Royal Canin, Urinary diet or you can get Hill's CD. You can also use Cystaid, which is a natural tablet that helps prevent bladder problems. Another answer is to give the cat filtered water. Their are several pet designed water filters on the market. I use the 'Cat-it Water Fountain'. Available from ebay etc.
Hope this helps.
