My dog Benji is getting old now, and some days he's quite stiff when he gets up especially on his back legs, we've taken him to the vets and he's said it just his age, is there anything I could give him to help?

He was abandoned as a puppy 12 years ago, he's spaniel size, but mixed variety. Very loving and means the world to me

Our dog gets a daily cod liver oil tablet - just the sort you get for humans - nothing expensive. A few months ago we stopped because we didn't think they were making much difference, and she went downhill, got stiff muscles really quickly and would limp with the slightest mishap. We've now got her back on the CLO and she's fine again.

I'm not sure how old she is. We got her a couple of years ago from a rescue centre and she'd gone there as a stray. We think she's about 9 or 10 now, maybe a little older.
Green Lipped Mussel Extract is supoosed to be good too :o)
Try glucosamine tablets

You can also buy little cartons of goats milk for dogs which has glucosamine in it. I give it to my 13yr old lab, she loves it.
We have a 10 year old Lab who suffers from arthiritis. At one stage he was suffering so badly with it, that we were considering having him put down. We were already giving him a daily dose of Cod Liver Oil but then we thought about giving him mackerel. (don't know where the idea came from!!) So now we give him half a portion of a mackerel fillet every day (as well as the CLO) and the difference in him is absolutely unbelieveable! You really wouldn't believe that he is the same dog - he runs and jumps around like a pup with no pain or stiffness at all. The only thing is you have to watch their waistline as it is quite fattening...and the breath doesn't smell too pleasant either. But its worth it, not to see him in pain anymore. I hope this helps. :o)

Try a Bioflow Magnetic Therapy Collar (look on ebay - they are cheaper than from a Bioflow agent).

You can also give him Denes Greenleaf Tablets (from your pet shop).

Both of these are natural and won't harm your dog in any way.

hilton herbs, which i use for horses also do a range for dogs for different ailments
