Can someone tell me why do dogs circle before they lie down to sleep??

If they were in the wild they would do it to get a comfy spot
I think it comes from way back before dogs were domesticated and there beds in the wild would have been long grass or straw, they would have to circle a few times to flatten their bedding.
The above answer, is basically correct, in the wild, there are one of two reasons for doing this, 1, to tramp down vegetation to make the place more comfortable, 2, Dogs are social animals, and its a way of marking their bedspace, and at the same time, making more room for itself.
You never heard of the saying "One good turn deserves another...?"
