Hi, i posted the other day about my cat, she has now been to the vets and was put on a drip and had xrays etc. turns out she has a heart problem. She is back at home now but she still isnt eating or drinking! Has anyone had any similar problems? We are finding it hard giving her tablets and getting food/drink inside her! i'm really worried about her and any advice would be greatly appreciated! x

I am so sorry to hear about your cat. Here is a website that will show you how to give tablets and medicines easily. It really does work:

I would talk to your vet about how to encourage her to eat. My cat was given tablets to help her appetite. Vets usually have stocks of 'invalid' food in tins that is quite mushy and easy to feed. The practice nurse should be able to give you some very good advice free of charge.

I wish you and your cat all the best xxxx

HI Gessoo, thanks for that link! It made me smile that cat looks like its going to scratch her to death when she lets go! i love the warning at the side that says "do this rapidly to avoid getting bit" Cats are great arn't they! ;o) Sadly i doubt that would work as she is a pill hater of old and using that method has never worked in the past (we used to find bits behind the sofa etc!) and it will traumatise her too much at the minute! i think i will try your advice with the nurse though maybe they can give her an injection or something!

Actually caz21 it was an injection given by the vet that boosted our cat's appetite and not pills.

I have had to give pills to cats over the years. I have rescued some sick cats and still have one that needs two pills a day for life. I know just what you mean - I often find remnants of pills behind chairs, etc. I am sure my cat pretends to swallow on purpose then runs off laughing and spits the pill out!! Clever creatures.

Good luck.
