A dog is for life.....................
.....................not just Christmas. That's an old one isn't it, but I've seen it on a few cars today.
Dog owners should also remember before buying one, that a dog is for 365 days a year, which includes Nov. 5th, so will you all not start moaning when the fireworks begin?

My dogs don't mind the fireworks but I do. I can't stand the things. They are dangerous and should not be on public sale - they are gunpowder for heaven's sake!
I was in the park once with my dog and two men who who old enought to know better, were about to let off a rocket in a small park - I asked them to wait five minutes while I left the park. They then waited for me to get to within 100 yards of the exit and let their rocket off which missed the side of my head by about 2 inches!
Now tell me I'm being paranoid!!
I have had dogs all my life and only one had a problem with fireworks. I have kept my dogs in and appreciate that a lot of people love fireworks never moaning on November the 5th, The Millennium or New Year but I don't seem to get the same courtesy from the firework lovers.
Rant now over!!
what ?
how can you say something like that ? if ANY animal is intimidated by loud bangs and flashing lights, that are man made, then why shouldnt responsable owners complain ?
thats a new one on me, complaining about November 5th in June !!!
lets cancel Christmas before we get fat and lazy for a week.
.Let us let Nov 5th get here first.
If this was just the one occasion then sensible dog owners will be prepared ...but.... it's the sensless letting off of fireworks willy nilly that annoys me .
I am no killjoy but when people let them off just because their daughter has passed her driving test in the middle of the summer then I get annoyed which is the sort of thing people a few doors from me down do.They let the things off if someone has farted to put it bluntly.Which annoys me and frightens my dog.
Nov 5th etc I am prepared and take appropriate measures so that my dog is not distressed.
It's not just about dogs ..it's about peoples rights to live in peace and quiet at any time of the year.
sorry 10CSt, you're on your own. Like everyone else I've no objection to organised firework displays, in a safe environment- where there are no dogs!
However it's the senseless letting them off in the streets, or in my case- the main road right outside my house, that I quite rightly object to.
By the way- can I just ask....What on earth made you ask this question in June???
the stickers you are referring to are mostly issued by The Dog Trust. Which means people driving with these stickers are adult sensible people who are dedicated to a trust.
Not immature naive ones like yourself. Anyway there are also people who are scared of fireworks and how about small children. Should we all just stop having kids because of fireworks???? Ridiculous
