Cat Fight. PLEASE HELP!!!

My tortie lady had a litter of Kittens back in april. Whilst she was nursing the kits, I seperated her from my other cats. The 2 kittens are fully weened now, one has gone to his new home, and we have decided to keep the female. However, when i tried to reintroduce the other cats to my tortie and her daughter, all hell broke loose, and she attacked them! I imagine she is trying to defend her kitten and her territory, but i can't keep them seperated for much longer, it's not fair on my other cats. She is perfectly happy with the father of the kittens, but really cannot tolerate my other two cats anymore, despite the fact that they both get on fantastically with her kitten and prior to the birth had gotten on fantastically with her! SO............................ do i just shut them in a room and let them fight it out? or would that put them at risk? How can i reintroduce them safely?

when introducing a new cat, they normall suggest putting it in a pet carrier in the same room as the home cat for a while over some days, maybe this would work for you. if the other cats are safe with the kitten, maybe put mum in a pet carrier and let her see her kitten is safe with them, do this daily for about 30 minutes a time and once or a few times a day, but dont let the baby out of her sight she will be very upset, if she cannot see her baby is safe. after a few days try and reintroduce them all again. im not very good at this sort of thing but i heard thats good to introduce a new cat, this may not work though as its her baby she is protecting. you may need to wait till the baby is older.

That is the correct way of doing it. That's how we introduced a feisty feral to our six other cats. It's not all pally-pally at first but they all love each other now.

Sounds good. I actually tried letting Mum go into a different room with the ginger male that she has the most problems with, they were fine together, so i think it must be that she is defending her territory.
I will try the pet carrier idea today. thanks 2 u both :)
