Well thanks for all the comments.
We've had "I'd break the horses legs" how humane is that, right through to the cost of hunting Hmmmmm lots of you seem to know how much that is--not. It cost 10 for a days hunting in my area, less than a packet of fags and a pint.
The fox is NOT torn apart, but killed quickly, by the lead dog (just as with most pre..ditors that kill in packs)The fox however does kill for fun, and not for his larder.
Townies driving at great speed through our disapearing country side, kill far more animals in a much less humane way (usually leaving them in the middle of the road for the next motorist to hit, and us to clean up).

A true story from a hunting friend who witnessed it:
Fox running across a field, pack and field in pursuit. All the fox has to do is get to the edge of the field and across the road and he's home safe, because the land on the other side belongs to a monastery and the hunt aren't allowed there. It's looking like ol' foxy's gonna make it ... except ...
Lining the road is a whole brigade of hunt saboteurs, shouting the odds and waving stuff about like loonies. Foxy takes one look, and you can almost hear him thinking, 'ooohh, sh*t, I'm done for now'. In his panic, he turns and heads straight back into the pack.
That's not one you'll find on the LACS website, I imagine.

Sorry horsetache, but I have to pick you up on your last comment about townies.
Bumpkins conveniently forget that townies subsidise the countryside with taxes, enabling farmers to grow surplus and unnecessary crops for an inflated profit. These are crops we could get cheaper from abroad in a free trade system. Without our subsidies, your country pursuit loving land owners wouldn't hesitate to sell off vast swathes of land and move abroad to a tax haven. We wish our industries had been so well protected.
And once more, foxes do not kill for fun because the concept is a human one and bumpkins like you are always criticising townies for anthropomorphising about animal welfare and yet introduce the human concept of fun when it suits your weak arguments. You want it both ways!

I've lived in the countryside for most of my life - was born and bred there, moved to town for a while, then back to countryside. I've never been hunting (I don't ride), but have seen many a hunt going on, and honestly don't see the problem everyone has with it. They don't often catch the fox (or even get a trail of one), the foxes are very rarely 'torn apart' as evryone who's never seen a hunt will tell you and, quite frankly, why should people criticise somehting they have no experience of and know nothing about?
lol scuzball my thoughts exactly.
Also I'd also like someone to answer me why they enjoy seeing an animal being killed whether its by a nice friendly bite to the back of the neck (yeah right, of course it is!) or otherwise?
Also no one has answered why they believe the one or two they do manage to catch is somehow helping to keep the fox population down?

How can anyone agree with hunting? You are barbarric and Sick if you do.
Farmers who lose their stock to Foxes, here's an idea - make your coups more secure. You cannot blame an animal for following instinct and doing what nature taught it, but you can blame a human, who knows right from wrong, and has the ability to make chioces and understand consequences.
How about if I chase you with a pack of animals, and watch them rip you to shreds (I have to advise that you have no concept of how good an idea that sounds.) What would your offspring or mate think?
As for Naz's comment about breaking your horses legs - silly I agree, but emotionally fuelled. My comment? If I catch you hunting, I will break YOUR legs.

...mmmm.....Morbidstorm. I don't hunt and am neither pro nor anti the sport, but I do think that all points of view are valid on all subjects and respect them.
I am not barbaric and neither am I sick and I take great exception to you saying that I am....Reading the statement you made in your post especially the part in brackets....."How about if I chase you with a pack of animals, and watch them rip you to shreds (I have to advise that you have no concept of how good an idea that sounds.)"........and you say people who hunt have sick minds?..........mmmm........

Couldn't agree with you more commoner.
I also find it strange that people think that they subsidise us country folk, and we dont pay taxes, and are all wealthy farmers and land owners, whe spend all or days hunting, shooting and fishing.
Maybe they should take some time out of the dole office, and get an education.
Boo I have not stared all the answers yet as I am working, some of us do!!!!

Just have to add in response to sexy jag. I am a rural man through and through. Rural people's lives certainly do not revolve around this barbaric sport. In fact most rural people think it is a silly cruel and outdated custom. Please do not let the Countryside Alliance fool you. It only represents a very small proportion of genuine rural dwellers. Time has moved on - we should not be living in the past. Fox hunting is nothing but a cruel sport, their are far better ways of controlling foxes.
I am not interested in stars for me, I didn't contribute to the debate. All your stars were given to people who agreed with you, included people who had posted after people who disagreed with you. that was my point. Never mind, this has gone on long enough and this is, as I am sure you will be peased to hear, my last post on the subject.
i thought the definition of a sport was where
the opposing sides started off on an equal
footing, this is hardly the case with fox hunting, if these peole who participate in hunting like blood sports so much why dont they take up boxing, i am betting most are cowards, after all foxs dont fight back do they. as for the propaganda about keeping fox
numbers down, well thats just garbage to
justify their sick perverted pastime.
your all a sick bunch of morons.

I'm pretty certain that nobody on this thread has ever met one another, so how can some of you be so horrible! I have been a suppoter of hunting from a very young age as a member of the pony club, and from this i've learnt that you have no idea of the endless links hunting has to both the rural and urban communities. I can't agree more with horsetache....
Firstly, hunting directly supports the huntsmen, their families, horses and the hounds. In turn, hunting indirectly links local groups of riding schools and yards, the large amount of mounted followers need food, for both horses and humans, they need transport, so therefore use local garages, local farriers, local pubs. The foot followers organise get-togethers, dinners and dances, the farmers maintain the byways, bridlepaths and roads so that hunting can take place.....
what i'm trying to say is that for a minute forget the effect the loss of foxhunting has on the foxes, it has a holistic effect on the surrounding area, whether its inhabitants support it or not.
