lost cat returned home but....

Last week both my cats went missing - on the wednesday the mother cat aged 2.5 years just vanished on the wednesday,then on the friday her female kitten who is 15 months,also disappeared.I searched the whole village but no joy.Then lastnight at about 10pm the mother appeared in the back garden crying/miaowing like mad.She was starving and wolfed some food down.But she wont stop crying.She is following me everywhere and doing this strange cry.Is it because she knows her baby is missing or is there something else wrong??

She may well be in distress because kitten is missing. She may have been shut away in a shed or garage accidentally and the owners gone on holiday and the same thing may have happened to the kitten. All your can do is put letters through neighbours doors and print out notices and put them on lamp posts, and possibly in the shop windows in your village, if it has any shops. I suppose it's always possible that somebody has taken your kitten but let's hope it soon turns up.

wonderful news!! The kitten turned up at 3 am soaking wet and crying lke a baby! We still have no idea where they have both been for a week,they are both still crying but I am going to give the vet a call.They have both been spayed so im not sure what it is but at least they are home!

I was holding my breath reading this thread, then the "wonderful news" post nearly made me cry!! So glad for you. Is it possible to keep these two indoors for a while, in case there is someone nasty out there?

So pleased you've got both your cats back now. Can't imagine where they have both been but hopefully they've learned their lesson (if it was indeed their fault for straying) and will stay close to home now.

Hello all.tHe vet has checked the 2 cats over and they are apparently well and healthy.He has bo idea why or how they both went missing for a week,on separate days,but at least they are home now.Thankyou all for your lovely comments.xx
