Frogs after the rain yesterday
1 Answers
Our garden and surrounding area is clay, and baked to death due to the recent heatwave. There are no nearby ponds that I know of, even when it's wet. Yesterday, after about 1 hour of rain, I noticed that there was a frog in the garden. I was so fascinated and thrilled, but could anyone suggest where it may have been living until now? Could it have been underground, or in a drain somewhere? Anyone else notice similar phenomenon? Thanks in advance.

Frogs tend to become dormant in times of drought, going into a state similar to hibernation. But if the drought's too severe, it'll kill them. I came across a toad under a piece of scrap roofing felt at the back of my pondless garden a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was dead till I poked it, and it moved sluggishly. I left it as it was.
