Well we're going for a ragdoll, heard nothing but good things about them!
I don't know about any specific breeds that do - I think it depends entirely on the individual cat to be honest. My moggy is like a dog sometimes - he's never far from wherever I am in the house and follows me round all the time. He's very affectionate but I think its just his character. He's no specific breed, just a regular mog.
Orientals in general, more specifically Siamese, and blue-point in particular. I have read about the bonding tendencies of blue-points, so I'm not just making it up!

We have one that is very bonded with the wife. It will follow her round the house, off down the street (which is a right nuisance). On occasions if the cat doesn't know where the wife is when the cat believes her to be in the house, the cat will start miowing, and going into every room, looking.

In the evening, it will often sit on the path outside waiting for her to come home, or when it hears her car, will zip off to greet her.

I agree with Catso. Siamese are reckoned to be the most dog-like in their attitude. Apparently, they'll even play by fetching and returning a thrown ball. But be warned! A friend who had a Siamese had to change all the door-handles in his house from lever type to round knobs, The cat had learned to open the doors by jumping up and hanging onto the handles. It could even open the doors inward, by throwing its body weight sideways. Damned clever, those Siamese!
Oh yes, she will do 'fetch', as well! Little fluffy mouse or ball. She loves it. She usually wants to play when we want to watch tele. She'll bring a mouse and drop it at our feet. "You're ignoring me!!! I want attention!!!"

Yes, we think she can open doors. We've never seen it, but are sure doors get opened. One in particular, where she can stand on the back of a chair and get at the handle easily.
Hi everyone we have 2 domestic shorthairs eg; moggies, we have had them since they were kittens both females and they are both very affectionate our black one we got from the rapca plays fetch all the time and loves cuddles, i have rhumatiod arthiritis and if i have a bad day with my illness she follows me everywhere i go just to make sure i am ok! Our other one who is ginger is my baby, she is always having cuddles off me loves attention, she cries if i stop fussing her, she even gets in bed at night with me under the covers and has a cuddle. I love my kittys and i wouldnt change them for the world! Cheers Honey xXx
My friend has a Siamese who follows her around the house, sits on her lap when she visits the loo, curls up on her hair at night and taps her on the shoulder when she's cooking. (It jumps up onto the work surface- it isn't the size of a tiger.) I half expect him to open the door when I visit.
LOL Suffragette -- you just made me laugh out loud. I have had two cats in my life (both black shelter cats). They are so extremely affectionate it is unbelievable. Thank god for them, right?
I Have a Bengal & she is so affectionate, it's smothering me!!! She fetches, begs & loves water, so that's kinda dog like innit? But I also have a Tabby mog from a rescue centre with a bleak past & she is also very affectionate, but not as clinging and cuddly as my Bengal. All cats have the potential to be affectionate I believe if You raise them to be?....

My cat is just a moggie I think, or maybe a british shorthair, I don't know, she turned up on the door step one day... she's pretty friendly, but i've seen friendlier ones. Anyway, I was just wondering if it was the genes or just how the cat was treated, thanks for your answers.
