Mum cat turned Nasty!
3 Answers
Back in April my cat had 3 lovely kittens, 2 were sold and i decided to keep one (male) at first mother and son were fine, usual thing, play fighting and showing each other affection. But a couple of weeks ago Mum cat started growling and hissing at her son everytime he went near her, she will now only come in the house if he is not around, its very sad to see her like this because he wants to still play with her but cannot get near her. Has anyone encountered anything like this before? Thanks in advance for any answers.

As a domestic cat, your queen has her own patch your home and garden, but her klitten has not moved in, he has simply become an adult cat, and therefore, competition for the position held by his mother - hence the spats.
Remember, each will have forgotten that they are mother and son, they are simply adults who find themselves sharing territory, and that will mean the incumbant defending it, and the interloper trying to take over.
You will find that your growing kitten will adapt to the new situation quite quickly, and things will settle down. Remember, all cat playing is training for the adult business of hunting, and fighting for territory - don;t be too sure he wants to 'play' with his mum these days, but they will both adjust, just leave them to sort it out their own way.

This happened to me as well. My cat had three kittens and I kept them all, once they were weaned she hated them!
They couldnt go near her without her hissing and spitting at them.
After a couple of months she ran away :-(
at least I have always assumed she left because the kittens didnt. It broke my heart.
