I would not recommend cutting his claws.
Instead give him a sisal covered scratching post and he cat keep them in tip top condition that way.
Check the Cats Protection League website - they have lots of links to really useful sites on this kind of info.

I'd agree with minnie, there is absolutely no need to cut your cat's claws.

Is it your first kitten by any chance?

Unless they are excessively long IE he keeps getting them stuck in the carpet, you shouldn't.

One of ours once had this happen, after they were poorly for a while. Ever so funny to watch. They'd be walking along, and suddenly one paw wouldn't come off the carpet. We had the vet trim them down.

Hi , cats, especially the females do have long claws, but they shouldn't be clipped! As mentioned before, give your kitten a scratching post....this however does not blunt them, just ensures that they are in good condition, and do not get caught in the carpet etc.

Ive never cut my cats claws - plenty of scratchy posts should suffice. If you cut them they will grow back and kitty will just sarpen them again!!

they are not like dogs - if he will be going outside they will wear on their own, otherwise as others have said get a scratching post.

Why do people get animals and have not got a clue in how to look after them. Leave the cats claws alone...........
