Anyone know an easy way or a good product to deflea cats and houses? We seem to be getting alot of bites, think the 2 cats must have fleas. One is a kitten and she doesnt go out but the older one does so she must have brought them in. Tried the tablet ones but nothing much has changed!! Any advice appreciated!
Frontline spray only avaliable on prescription from the vets. You can use it on kittens from 2 weeks of age. They also do a 'spot on' but I personally don't like these, also this is available from other outlets but the spray has to be got from the vets.
You can spend a fortune on other stuff (I know, I sell them!)
but I only ever use Frontline, which is cheaper in the long run.
You can get stuff from the vets (Acclaim is a good one) and you should vacuum and spray every nook and cranny, although I have always found that spraying the dogs has killed the fleas and although a few remain, as soon as they get on the animals they are done for anyway!
You can also get a sort of 'flea bomb' that you set off in a closed room and leave for some time, but these are only really for extreme cases of infestation.
i had to have the council come round to spray with industrial strength deflear. i think it cost about 30-40, since then i use frontline combo - but not as often as i should, but have never had the problem again. (touch wood).
Any good pet shop will sell Cat Flea sprays although these can only be used on cats over 3 months I think, and Spot On is a cheap alternative and needs no prescription. As for your house, one of the cheapest options is a House Spray, Johnsons do one, but you have to leave the room for half an hour after spraying.
