There's a very effective product called No More Blanket Weed made by Aquatic Industries Ltd. It works a treat. Here's a link to their web site.

Hi, my pond always has loads of blanketweed in the spring, early summer. Yes, use treatments, but also get rid of the weed manually (checking for wildlife as you take the weed out). Because the treatments do work,but the debris from the chemical reaction will just sit on the bottom of your pond and eventually you have to get rid of that! There is no such thing as a free lunch.
