And I know many people who have been devastated at having a cat run under their wheels - but I don't know anyone who has ever hit a dog. As for disfiguring children - it's contact with catpoo that causes many miscarriages, and so can be said to kill babies. And I'm someone who likes cats!!!
most cat owners dont kno when their cat is pooing because they dont do it infront of people, so they cant pick up after them. You cant watch a cat 24 /7 because they roam around, so you cant be responsible for thier actions all the time. dogs however poo in thier own garden or when they are on walks so the owner has the opportunity to clean up after their dog. And when rcp said disfigure i think he meant dogs physically attacing children and it is more common that a dog will attack because of their natural pack mentality to protect themselves and their owner. i aint makin it up i saw it on pet rescue. the number of children being attacked by a dog is increasing because dog owners dont train their dogs and they let them go off their leash.
i wasnt even talkin about which owners have better control. i was talking about the owners not cleaning up their pets mess, you cant control when your dog or cat poos and when, but you can do the right thing afterwards and clean it up. you cant keep tabs on a cat and be there when it poos because they poo out of the owners sight they dont do it infront of them so it isnt the owners fault at all. but dog owners can do this but we still have dog poo on the streets. so dog owners are not doing what they can to stop dog poo being left on the street because there is always some on the street. if cat owners had the opportunity to be by the cats side when it does a poo and clean it up, i dont kno if they would or wouldnt, but i don know that alot of dog owners dont use that opportunity and clean up their dogs poo. The control thing your on about cats dont have to be taught to stay on a leash and sit and be taught how to behave around people because they would rather run away and avoid uncomfortable situations than stay and they wont become violent unless absolutely necessary and they got desperate, whereas a dog is much more aggressive when they are uncomfortable so have to be trained. and like i said at the bottom of my last posted message alot dog owners dont control their dogs enough when they take them for walks because children get attacked an the numbers are increasing because of careless dog owners.so no i wasnt agreeing with you and i wasnt talkin about control.

Answerbankin, "control" doesn't only mean training - it also means being responsible and preventing your animals being a nuisance to other people! 'Clearing up' after them is one way in which responsibility is demonstrated - as you say, cat owners don't bother. As for the biting - both dogs and cats would rather run away and avoid confrontation, but dogs are prevented from doing so (often by 'leash laws'). Some (of course not all) children get bitten because they haven't been taught correct behaviour around animals, and ignore the previous milder warnings (ear-flattening, pupil dilation, body stiffening, growling etc) to stop their upsetting behaviour. The way to cure this is to teach children proper behaviour just as much as the animals. I bet David wishes he never started this!
i didnt say cat owners dont bother, they cant clean up after their cats, its impossible to clean up after a cat becasue they are not around them when they do it. cats dont do it in public, so u cant blame the cat owners. yeh kids should be under control too, but dogs can become agressive even if there is no threat thats why they need to be trained. yeh davids opened a whole can of worms.

cats wander off and you cannot see where they are going, if you follow them and be there when they go to the toilet, you will be tresspassing and when the cats sees you they wont go to the toilet being watched. if you get a cat it doesnt mean you get to be a irresponsible owner and that you dont have any responsiblities so if people do get cats assuming that, then they are going to disappointed. so to your question, some people who are quite misinformed about cats may buy cats for that reason, but i think the majority of people know that cats dont equal no responsibility and wont buy them for that reason.
