My fish laid eggs, but she doesn't have a fish mate in the bowl with her. Correct me if I am wrong, do the fish lay their eggs and then another fish fertilizes them? I don't want to clean her bowl out and kill all of her babies.
You're right. The female lays the eggs then the male releases sperm over them. No male - eggs won't be fertile. Best remove them in case they go bad in the tank
What do the eggs look like....pinhead sized amber coloured balls which stick to the surface of plants etc ?
It's very unlikely for a female to release eggs without a male present. All mature females will produce eggs but if they are not released and fertilized, the female usually absorbs them back into her body.
Occasionally she produces too many and is unable to release them. This then becomes a serious condition called egg binding and can be fatal.
