My goldfish has developed a red mark on ti's underneath as well as spending more time at the bottom of the tank and has a cloudy patch on the top of it's head. Been using 'disease safe' but it doesn't seem to be helping any longer. He is an only-goldfish! Any suggestions??
are the scales sticking out as it could be dropsy? if so it could be due to poor water quality - do you let the water stand for a day before changing, and you should only change the water a bit at a time, not all in one go. You may try some antibiotic drops in the water, try a specialist aquatic shop, they may be able to help.
hi yabadaba, there are some great ref sites on a google search, where they will list specific symptoms. poor water quality, new diseased fish in the tank or stress to the fish often is the cause of disease. the cloudy patch u mention could be a parasite. have a look at www.fishyfarmacy.com as this has a good chart listing each disease and the cure, if any. the local aquairium shop usually has several specific treatments for each disease. the best advice is to visit them as it sounds like he definitely needs a treatment. hope he gets better soon.
