male dog's strange behaviour

last night my dog howled, whined and barked all night - i got up to see if he was ok and he just bounced around looking all exited and wanted to play. I have noticed he's been odd for the last few days and im thinking that he's in need of a little loving - problem is he's not going to get it. Is there a dog alternative to a cold shower? We live on a farm with no other dogs so his sense of smell must be really strong!

I think that he needs a little trip to the vet, that will cool him down!

ive got 2 dogs father and son and they have been like that for a fortnight . i found out the cause it was the collie bitch where i work had come in season and the dogs could obviously smell her on my clothes cos on tuesday i opened the back door and they both legged it . i found them 1 hour later and the old dog was tied to her with the pup[6 yrs old] not having a clue what he was doing trying to hump her shoulder. - ah well.

and dont go reading anything you shouldnt into how come my clothes got her odour on them i was petting the collie not heavy petting

My cousins have a farm and they had a terrier that could smell a bitch in heat from 10 miles away (literally!). As soon as he smelt it he was off and he only came back once he'd had his wicked way with her!
