hi my cat is ok in himself but he seems to be getting really skinny just in front of his back hips bones. he is his usually happy himself. he doesn't seem to be eating as much as he did a couple of months ago but he always has food out and eats when he wants. I have wormed him recently and he had a lots of fleas which I have recently treated (don't know if this is connected). Any suggestions appreciated.
Is he an old cat Carrie?..Our 14 year old cat has got thinner, and this happens with some older cats apparently. You should probably check him out with your vet,to be on the safe side anyway.
i've had him just over a year. he was a rescued cat so not sure of his age about 5-8 we reckon. thanks for the answer r
prob will take him for a check. regards Carrie
we have had 2 cats this has happened to,one it was a thyroid problem he sadly is no longer with us (old age) the other has diabetis i give him insulin injections twice a day and he has regained the wait and is fine (this one did start to drink a lot when he got skinny)
I was going to suggest either thyroid or diabetes - have you checked his mouth? Sometimes their gums get very inflamed and they have problems eating. Either way you should consult a vet I think
hi carrie have you had his teeth checked he could have tartar build up on the teeth near his cheeks. see if he has any loose teeth and look at his gums, see if they look bleedy. FIV and kidneys are also ones to ck out. Hope he is better now
