Poor Puddy Tat
13 Answers
I am not having much luck with my animals of late. My ginger tom went missing 3 weeks ago, he used to just disappear for up to a week - and I thought he was being fed somewhere else as he seemed very well in himself and a good weight so when he went 'missing' I didnt worry. However, I got home late monday night and heard a howling outside my patio doors, it was him, all bedraggled, in shock and looking a complete mess, and so thin! He was dragging his back leg badly and obviously had been hit by a car ! I felt awful and rushed him down to the emergency vet, he was starving too poor thing, and just wanted me to cuddle him. TOday he has had one of his rear legs amputated and his pelvis pinned. I hope I can bring him home tomorrow. I feel so guilty now for not worrying about where he was, and he must have dragged himself back home in that state ! Cats are remarkable creatures....heaven forbid the pain he must have been in - when he saw me all he did was purr!

You may get him back tomorrow or the next day and you can give him lots of cuddles and treats.
Do not feel guilty as that is what cats do. They take off for days at a time.
Hope he gets better soon.

Ah, I am so sorry to hear about your cat Roughquest - poor little thing.
I am a cat lover too & would feel just the same as you do, if it had have been our Smudge. Please try not to blame yourself, cats have a way of wandering off on their travels, then turning up again!
Hope he's soon on the mend - purr. -x-

You poor things, how is he doing now? Our cat Ted was hit by a car 7 years ago - his head took the full impact and we were told not to hold out any hope. However - within a few weeks he was doing really well (minus nearly all his teeth and the sight in one eye). Cats are amazing aren't they? You'll probably notice in future he will be much more of a home cat after his fright. Ted became a real lap cat where he had once been a wanderer. All the best, let us know how he's getting on. Awww poor Puddy Tat, what a little warrior he is, I too love my cats ie puss and boots. Hope he makes a swift recovery, there is a cat in the village who only has three legs and he is lovely and it doens't seem to bother him at all. Dont't feel guilty as has been said this is what they do sometimes. Boots went missing once for 5 days, thankfully he came back in one piece albeit thin and bedraggled. Good luck to Puddy, keep us informed.
The poor darling, the same happened to my friends cat and he had a metal rods in him to hold his back end together, he lived a normal life after. I had a cat that went missing as well and he was found curled up in a ball in a horses field miles away when he was brought back he was quiet and withdrawn for days but did get better. I so so hope your cat gets better soon please let us know as soon as you can I won't stop thinking about it now. That worry was what has prevented me getting a cat of my own until now when I decided it was a silly reason for not giving a cat a good home. Until now my kitten Tigger has avoided getting into scrapes and I hope it stays that way. Take care and give your cat a big kiss from me!
sorry to hear about your poor cat but dont feel guilty cats go off and you will never know where they have been. we had one go missing for 11 months the day she came home she acted as if she had only been gone the morning i had given her up for dead when i told my husband she was back he would not believe me thought i was on the wine. as for his leg he will manage fine with only 3 we have got one with his pelvis pinned and it does not worry him at all we have also got one that got hit by a car and was paralysed at the back vets said there was no hope and wanted to put her to sleep but the x rays showed no breaks so i brought her home she is fine now just a bit lame so dont give up

Thank you all for your replies to date, your words have brought me a lot of comfort as I have been so upset. You are all lovely ! My cat is home again after 4 days in the hospital, but he is coping very well, speeding around the house like no business ! He is eating well and seems to be adapting to life with 3 limbs - I have noticed him to be extra loving and very clingy which he never was before his accident, I could cuddle him but he was never one for asking for a cuddle if you see what i mean, but he seems a different cat, wont leave my side and howls if I leave the room, unless he is able to follow me....but I love him so much, its nice to be extra cuddly with him.
