I am planning on getting Mr Cat a Gecko, does anyone have any experience with them? Are they easy to look after? Do they have to be left alone or do they like company?

Obviously I will get books and a tank etc first but am looking for personal experience. Thanks

Yes they are easy to look after, and although can be left alone, they can become very tame. Not that I like their eating habits as they need live food, ie: insects, crickets etc (even spiders), 3 or 4 times a day. You should not pick them up by their tail as it can fall off!!

Make sure you buy from a reputable breeder, and it should have a fat tail which is almost as thick as its neck. It should be alert when awake and watch it eat, make sure it is eager. Dont buy a gecko that does not open its eyes when you touch ot or has old skin stuck to its feet.

My son is into reptiles and has bearded dragon and a corn snake, he finds them fascinating.

I have one they are brilliant pets. Only need cleaning out entirely every 6 months. Just scoop the poop out now and again. There very tame and they dont bite.

I am always looking for toys to keep my cats amused. So when I saw this post I thought that your were buying your cat a Gecko to play with. I nearly rushed off to buy one.

I really should take time to read things properly!

Good luck with your Gecko.
