Cat problems
12 Answers
Hi, i have two 6 month old kittens, one is fine but the other one wont let me sleep at night. He comes over and nudges me and then keeps tapping me with his paw. I push him off and he comes straight back up and does this most of the night, keeping me awake. We cant lock him in any other part of the house as it is all open plan, so we have no doors. has anyone any ideas why he does this and how i can stop him? Thanks

The reason us cats like to do this (in my case I find repeatedly shoving a wet nose into my person's cheek particularly effective) is due to the fact that you humans are not allowed to ignore us when we want attention - a simple rule but one you lot seem to find difficult to grasp. If I want attention - be it a cuddle, a stroke, food, a drink ,or to play, my human has to obey - it's the law. The fact that it may be 3am and I've been demanding this every half an hour is irrelevant - you must obey! My advise to you is to do exactly what your cat is asking and pay attention to him. You'll be sorry if you don't. Welcome to the wonderful world of cat slavery! Have a nice day. Sam the Man. Miaow.
My human slave tries to ignore me when I try to wake her up - but I usually win.
As Sam the man says - it is part and parcel of living with a superior life form like a feline.
Chewing bits of human also works, as does scratching and nuzzling. Why do humans insist on sleeping at night anyway - that is the best part of the day.

As someone else said you are likely to be in for lots of sleepless nights! My 17 year old does this - I wake in the early hours to find a wet nose and loud purring in my ear. If I try to ignore that out comes the paw and she bats at me and pulls my hair. All she wants is fuss - she has plenty of food. It's very much "I'm here so wake up!"
haha thanks everyone for your answers! i know he cant be hungry, i thought that and so tired leaving their feed till just before i went to bed to ensure they were full up but it didnt work. He bit me in my sleep last night and frightened the life out of me when i was in a deep sleep. Ill try pulling him into bed with me. My boyfriend said that this morning, said he pulled him close to him and higged him and he fell asleep there, so ill try that. Its just hard to remember when you are being woke up at 4am, my first instinct is to push him off the bed but he comes straight back! Its strange he only does it to me though, i sleep at uni 2 nights a week and when my boyfriend is in bed on his own he doesnt bother him. any ideas why its just me and not my fella he wants attention from?
Thanks again
