We have a little wooded area at the bottom of our garden & I've placed a little see-saw with pixies on each end & various other pixies & fairies, etc., down there. In turn, I've told each Grandchild & friends children about the pixies & fairies who live at the bottom of our garden. Especially at night when we switch on the tiny lights for them. I'm far from batty & I don't care what anyone else thinks, it's just my way of bringing a little bit of wonderment into this sometimes horrible world we live in!
Ah, that's lovely too Anniekon! What started me off on this fairy & pixie wonderland, was that in 1953 when I was only 5yrs old, I & one of my sisters aged 9yrs, had to stay in a beautiful place called 'Webbery Convalescent Home for Girls', in Bideford, Devon, for 6 weeks. We weren't ill, but our poor Mum (also Annie) needed a thorough rest at home. The nurses used to take us little ones for walks in the grounds, to local farms & in the woods. One day when we were in the woods, we were shown a series of toadstools, which I can honestly say 'hand on heart' looked like a castle. The nurses explained that the faires & pixies built & lived inside it. To this day, my sister & I still have this etched in our minds & both adore fairies & pixies.
I like the idea of them too! My friend has told his two daughters that he's part goblin (via his Grandad), he has a slightly pointed ear that he uses as evidence. He also tells them that 'full' goblins wait in the trees alongside roads and drop down onto motorbikes to pinch the rider's bum! Also, rather gorily (but they love it) he's told them that you sometimes see goblins squashed in the road!
Hi Anniekon, thank you so much for your birthday wishes. Hope you enjoyed yours too, was it in May?. It's nice to keep the brain active by using this site & computers in general. My best friend across the road collects them too, so we buy each other different ones. I love their little faces & delicate clothing. It's been nice conversing with you, so I think we ought to thank Lizi for placing this question! P.S Our daughter Nicky (36 & married with 2 children)loved it at Glastonbury a couple of years back, so have a nice time if you manage to make it there next year. (BTW, I'm from Dunstable, Bedfordshire). Bye for now, sleep well.
