ours didn't. We had two pedigree mopggies of 5 and 7 years when charlie arrived. No problems at all. Charlie thinks our male cat is the best thing in the world. |Both cats have quickly learned to move out of the way of a crawling baby who will grab their tails, and also learned that beneath his highchair, they may get crumbs of food! They still get affection adn attention from us, it's mostly when the wee guy has gone to bed, but they seem happy with that.
you need to keep an eye out for the cat getting into the baby's cot i remember my mum saying the cat we had then used to do this but i don't think she ever really tried to hurt us. cats often do naughty things like spraying if they feel they are not getting the attention they feel they deserve so keep a nose out for that.
